Baby Group/Playgroup

Parent-Child Classes

A gentle introduction to school life for children 0 to 4 years and their families.

Our Bina Baby Group and Playgroup both offer a gentle introduction to Steiner Education set in a beautiful and creative environment which has been intentionally designed to be in harmony with young children. These weekly groups allow you and your child to lose yourself in the joy of stories, seasonal songs and nourishing activities.

Our Parent-Child classes meet in a dedicated classroom affectionately known as The Cottage, and classes evolve with children's changing needs—from gentle songs for babies to social support for toddlers and pre-kindy activities for our oldest Playgroup children.

BINA BABY GROUP (0 – 18 months)

Baby Group offers a quiet and nurturing space for families welcoming a new child into the world. In these earliest months of life, the young infant is deeply receptive to the warmth, rhythm, and care of their surroundings. This class creates a peaceful, unhurried environment where parents and babies can settle, rest, and gently enter into community with one another.

Each session unfolds with simplicity and intention. Parents hold, observe, and respond to their babies while experiencing a calm atmosphere supported by soft songs, gentle movement, and moments of quiet connection. Simple seasonal verses and lullabies offer nourishment for both parent and child.

Alongside time with the babies, caregivers are invited into conversation around the needs of the newborn and the developing rhythms of family life. Topics may include creating a peaceful home environment, establishing daily and nightly rhythms, supporting the developing senses, and caring for oneself while caring for a new child.

This class is designed for babies up to 18 months of age and offers a gentle beginning for families seeking warmth, guidance, and community during the tender first months of life.

We look forward to getting to know you and your babies during this precious time.

PLAYGROUP (18 months - 4 years)

Through strong routines playgroup allows children to build independence and self-esteem at their own pace and with the security of their caregiver. The atmosphere is warm and homely, filled with calming colours and natural materials, and the smell of bread baking. There are beautifully crafted wooden toys, handmade dolls and natural materials, such as gumnuts and shells, which inspire creative, imaginative play.

Outside there is a fully enclosed garden and playspace just waiting to be explored, filled with greenery and logs to climb on, garden beds, fruiting trees and a sandpit to dig in, plus shady areas to sit and share a snack.

Our session leaders are qualified and highly experienced and understand the journey of childhood and parenthood. They subtly lead the sessions by following a rhythm which includes indoor and outdoor free play, stories, songs and rhymes, seasonal festivals and the kneading and baking of bread which is enjoyed as part of a shared morning tea.

A Bridge to Our School Community

Parent-Child Classes are the best way to become familiar with Steiner Education, build connections with like-minded families and provide an example to your children of how to work in community.

For incoming families, these programs provide a gentle transition into school life. Children and parents build connections while preparing for the shift from home to school.

As families' first step into our school community, they can participate in child development lectures, school events like the Celtic Dance and Kambarang Fair plus weekly craft sessions that build lasting friendships and support networks.

“If a child is to keep alive their inborn sense of wonder, they need the companionship of at least one adult who can share it, rediscovering with them the joy, excitement and mystery of the world we live in.”
